We are delighted to invite you and your students to:
Malmö Borgarskola Model United Nations (MBMUN)
The conference will take place in the middle of autumn 2016, from Wednesday afternoon to Friday, October 19 to October 21, 2016 with a prep-session Wednesday morning for first time participants. Our conference will take place at Malmö Borgarskola, a public preparatory institution for 16-19 year olds situated in the center of Malmö, Sweden. We expect delegates from a number of different schools, primarily from year 9 and MYP4. We have organised conferences like this a number of times and can guarantee a stimulating, high-quality event for all participants.
The MBMUN group embraces the spirit of Model United Nations and will provide the opportunity for students to debate global political issues connected to both a local and a regional context. As a demographically young, multicultural city located in the vibrant Öresund region, the City of Malmö is deeply committed to international-mindedness. The conference will allow students to collaborate, debate, and problem-solve according to the actual parliamentary procedures of the UN. In doing so, our intention is to promote international and “glocal” awareness. Last but not least, MUN is an exciting and fun way for students to broaden their horizons by forming new friendships and reflect on the pressing issues of today. For those teachers and heads of school not familiar with Model United Nations as a teaching opportunity, the MBMUN management team has put together a handbook for your information. This material is available HERE.
The topics on the agenda as well as the participating countries are available at our website www.mbmun.org. Each school will be given a delegation (a country), and the students will be asked to research, prepare short speeches, and debate a number of different topics. Please note that the minimum age requirement for attending the conference is 14.
We look forward to meeting you all!
– Sincerely, Jonas Bokelmann & Dora Dimitrova, Conference Manager & Secretary-General
